Whispered Interpreting

In whispered interpreting (or chuchotage), the interpreter sits or stands next to the small target-language audience while whispering a simultaneous interpretation of what is being spoken. Since whispering or speaking under one's breath is very tiring for interpreter and listener alike and can therefore only be done for a short while, whispered interpreting is used in circumstances where the majority of a group speaks the source language and only a minority (ideally no more than three people) do not speak it.

The advantage of whispered interpreting is that no equipment is required.
